Many of the things that you might think you need to see a doctor about can often be dealt with by our nurses, all whom have been trained to deal with medical problems; for some things the nurse is more experienced at dealing with the problem than a doctor.
They are available for pre-bookable and on the day treatment room duties, including: Routine blood pressure checks, HRT and contraceptive prescribing, cervical smears, minor illness management (coughs, colds, sore throats, urine infections and other newly presenting problems), wound care, ear care, immunisations, management of diabetes, coronary heart disease, asthma and COPD and many other conditions come within their expertise. |

Steven, Naomi and James are qualified and registered paramedics who bring a wealth of clinical knowledge and experience to the team here at Boroughbury Medical Centre. Both work as part of our ‘Acute Illness Team’ seeing patients presenting ‘on-the-day’ with new minor illness and injuries, such as sore throats, earaches, coughs and colds, urine infections, sprains and strains. The ‘Acute Illness Team’ also comprises staff from the GPs and nursing teams. You may be spoken to on the telephone by one of the clinicians to decide who is the most appropriate member of the team for you to see. Steven and Naomi also assess and carry out a number of the Home Visit requests here at Boroughbury for our housebound patients. |
